Blakey is incensed when someone causes a fire in the paint shop with a careless cigarette and bans smoking on duty. Appalled, Stan can only puff away secretly as he tries to cope with the ongoing shambles that is Olive and Arthur's marriage - a situation which has got so bad that he has to go to work to get some peace and quiet! He's also trying to hide from both Mum and Basher, due to "monies owed" and the fact that he blew his latest pay packet at the dog track. Then he learns that Blakey is dying...
