A year after leaving the smoke of the city behind him to live off the fat of the land in the country at River Cottage, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has sampled the good life and found it to taste pretty sweet. Now he wants more...

Hugh plans to turn his smallholding into a real home farm and edge a little closer to the holy grail of self-sufficiency. He negotiates with his neighbour to secure the use of a four and half acre field, just enough to support a cow called Marge and her calf, a steer for beef and some Dorset Down sheep. The cattle are joined by chickens, which Hugh introduces to high-rise living and three 'Spice' pigs which he christens Ginger, Baby and Fat!

There is also time for Hugh to explore some of the local traditions including taking part in the annual nettle eating competition and diving for scallops.
