This series of six Victoria Wood plays perfectly showcases her wit, comic observation and fabulous turn of phrase. Focusing in turn on the various annoyances of modern life - from health farms to video dating and from daytime television to dinner parties - each play finds Victoria Wood appearing as a reluctant participant in her friends' fruitless efforts at self-improvement.

Men's Sana in Thingummy Doodah:
Victoria's friend drags her to the merciless Pinkney's health farm. But Enid and her water retention, Connie and her runaway midriff, and jogging at 6:25am are enough to make her plan a desperate escape.

The Library:
Victoria accompanies her friend as she braves the draconian librarian Madge to watch her new video dating cassettes, then decides she'll tag along on the dates to root out any potential axe-murderers...

Over To Pam:
Victoria stands in for her friend on Live With Pam. Is daytime TV really just to stop unemployed people running to the
social security to demand mad luxuries like cookers and windows?

We'd Quite Like to Apologise:
"Press for ticket, take ticket, park car, catch plane, go on holiday, have sex with a Portuguese timeshare salesman..."
The happy anticipation of a holiday in the sun turns into a nightmare at the airport.

Val de Ree (Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha):
Victoria and her best friend Jackie are off hiking and camping in the Yorkshire Dales. But their happy wanderings don't last long especially when they encounter the haughtiest of hostel wardens.

Staying In:
Victoria is just snuggling up to a night in front of the telly when her friend Jane drags her off to a dinner party. Not only is the atmosphere snooty and the people charm less, but Victoria has just discovered she's the evening's entertainment.
