The MOD lifestyle enjoyed its heyday in Britain in the early 1960s when short haircuts, button-down collars, motor scooters, pep pills and good music all combined to keep the aspiring followers of fashion one step ahead of the crowd. And the good music that the MODs danced to – featured here – was an infectious cocktail of American Rhythm & Blues, Jamaican Ska and the very best that the British combos had to offer. The original Mod cult faded away as quickly as it arrived, but it would reinvent itself in the late Seventies as Mod Revival and Two-Tone and today it is as relevant as ever before… Go Mod!
This new double vinyl Go Mod! compilation features 32 authentic Mod anthems remastered from analogue tape and original vinyl, stunning artwork featuring original Mod memorabilia and is packaging in a lavish gatefold sleeve. Go Mod! joins a growing catalogue of premium music on Charly Records imprint Club Soul – including the 16-track crossover and modern soul LP Shades of Soul and newly compiled records that celebrate the clubs of the original Northern Soul Scene – The Scene Club, The Twisted Wheel, Wigan Casino Soul Club, Catacombs and The Golden Torch.
