De komedie This Is the End volgt zes bevriende Hollywood acteurs (James Franco, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride en Craig Robinson), die opgesloten zitten in een huis. Ze kunnen niet meer naar buiten omdat na een vreemde buitenaardse aanval de hele stad Los Angeles verwoest is. Hun vriendschap wordt op de proef gesteld wanneer hun voedselvoorraad opraakt en als blijkt dat de situatie buitenshuis steeds meer bizarre gevaren brengt. Uiteindelijk moeten ze toch het huis verlaten en worden ze geconfronteerd met zichzelf, hun lot en het einde van de wereld.
