Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is not a standard comic book movie. In fact, if you're expecting something similar to the Marvel films, you are going to be either be disappointed or pleasantly surprised. BVS is Zack Snyder's second installment in the story of Kal-el (Henry Cavill)becoming the iconic Superman that we all know and love from the comic books. However, we are given a deconstruction of the character with depth, exploring just why he is Superman. The struggles he faces from being an alien on a planet where half the world fears him and what he is. The story shows us 'real-life' reaction that humans the world over would have to having an alien living among them, an alien that could burn the whole world down. Ben Affleck takes on the role of the Batman. A Frank Millar stylized version of a weathered and frustrated Batman that views Superman as a threat that must be contained or better yet; killed. Jesse Eisenberg is brilliantly cast as Lex Luthor with Gal Gadot making her first appearance as Wonder Woman, elevating the entire film to an even higher level. Her performance as the legendary Wonder Woman proves the genius that is Zack Snyder. A visionary director that knows his characters through-and-through and is able to tell a beautiful and enticing story. His work is layered with subtle hints and 'easter-eggs' throughout the entire film. The Ultimate Edition is truly the version of the BVS film that was intended before Warner Bros. decided to meddle with run-time and cutting away vital scenes that completed the story Zack Snyder intended.
